Career Goals & Bookmaking Workshop | Dallas Schools
Career Goals & Bookmaking Workshop is a…
visiting artist program developed in partnership with the Dallas Museum of Art that brings hands-on arts education directly into Dallas-area elementary school classrooms. The workshop engages 4th grade students in the creation of accordion-style artist books as a creative framework for exploring future career aspirations.
Each book includes four structured sections—Inspiration, Education, Vision, and Outcome—guiding students to reflect on what motivates them, what they need to learn, how they imagine their future, and what success looks like in their chosen path. Students explored a wide range of careers, including engineers, painters, veterinarians, and Supreme Court justices, using drawing, writing, and visual storytelling to express their ideas.
The workshop emphasizes creativity, self-expression, and goal-setting while introducing students to contemporary bookmaking as an artistic medium, encouraging them to see their ideas and ambitions as part of a tangible, visual narrative.
